This article refers to a special evening in May 2009
when Ruth was in Bratislava to record ‘Awakening’
For many of us
here in Bratislava the name
After five years from the premiere Ruth Fazal is back in Bratislava recording
her new piece of music with Slovak Radio Orchestra. After five years from the premiere In spite of her busy schedule she graciously accepted the invitation of ICEJ Slovakia to the evening meeting on Sunday, May 17, 2009. Ruth Fazal is a very fruitful person in the musical world. Besides being an accomplished violinist and keyboard player , she is a composer, worship leader and a Christian songwriter . Ruth has recorded 18 albums of her songs and instrumental music of her. "Song is like a river" was the uniting theme of the evening. Ruth led the audience into worship on the passages of David's psalms for which she wrote the melody. With the words on the screen it was easy to join these well known confessions of David's heart like "one thing I ask" or "I lift my eyes." The atmosphere was meditative and offered a soaking time in God's presence. As already mentioned, Ruth came to Bratislava with a purpose of recording her new piece “
AWAKENING “ for symphonic orchestra and choirs. It is an alerting calling for the hour in which we live. The TRUMPETER calls us to come away with Him, and through the music we are then ushered into an entirely new realm until finally, in the place of worship, we become aware of the sound of all creation groaning. In the midst of this groaning, God's voice sings out : “ Comfort My people! Speak tenderly to Jerusalem. "It was a privilege for the Slovak audience to be given an opportunity to hear a freshly recorded section of Awakening with Ruth playing violin live. The whole work should be completed and available on CD in a near future.
Shortly after the beginning all the seats in the concert hall were occupied. We invited both Christians from local churches and members of the Jewish Community. We could warmly welcome our honourable guests
HE Zeev Boker , the Israeli Ambassador to Slovakia, and John Freund the Holocaust survivor. To provide a room for a light informal conversation after the concert, we prepared a small banquet in the foyer of the mansion Pálffy where the concert took place. People shared their impressions and expressed positive appreciations. We strongly believe that this event means another step towards building bridges between Christian and Jewish communities in our nation.
