JOY IN THE NIGHT Finding God in the hard times of our lives
I am
beginning to understand that the times of difficulty and darkness in our
lives can be a doorway into a place of intimacy with Jesus not
found anywhere else. Will I attempt to find ‘another way'
or will I step into the place where Jesus waits to meet me, in all the loving tenderness of His great heart? I pray that, with me, you may choose to draw close to Him in the dark times, and that these songs will help you on that journey. Truly, there is Joy in the Night!"

SONGS The heart’s cry of longing for the kiss of God is the greatest place of freedom; nothing else matters but to have Him, and to be in His presence. The kiss of His Word upon our lives is the most precious gift to those who long for Jesus above all else.
1. I cry out for Your kiss The sweetness of Your Word upon my lips. I cry out for Your love O Jesus, I want to be with You!
Refrain For Your love is better than wine Your anointing oils are fragrant Your Name is perfume poured out And so, I love You, I love You. I love You, I love You.
2.I cry out for Your touch The safety and the strength of Your embrace I cry out “Meet me here!” O Jesus, I want to be with You…
3. I cry out to hear Your voice The whisper of Your Word upon my heart. I cry out to know You more O Jesus, I want to be with You……
How hungry am I for His presence? How long will I wait? The cry of “Maranatha!-Come Lord come!” is the expression of those who spend their time keeping their lamps filled and ready for the Bridegroom to return.
1. I’m waiting for the coming of my Lord I’m waiting for the coming of my King I’m longing for My Bridegroom to return And I will watch, And I will watch And I will cry with all my heart-
Refrain Maranatha! Come Lord come Maranatha! When will You return? Maranatha! Come, O come, Beloved Bridegroom, come! 2. How long until I see the One I love? How long until I rest within Your arms? How long until this aching heart is stilled? O, I will watch, and I will watch And I will cry with all my heart-
3. My lamp is filled, the flame is burning bright I’ve gathered oil, to last me through the night And now I wait until my Bridegroom comes And I will watch, and I will watch And I will cry with all my heart-
When God comes to us with a sharp sword of healing in His hand, it can often seem as though he intends to hurt us, because the pain is so intense. He wants us to know that His intention towards us is our wholeness, and that He is making us a ready partner for Jesus. Our places of pain and difficulty can become the most precious invitation into intimacy with Jesus.
1. My child, I come to pierce your heartAnd I weep. I do not desire to hurt you now But to heal
Refrain Will you surrender to the pain of My love?Surrender to My touch? Will you let me pierce your tender heart? For you know, I love you so much……so much
2. As I come and touch the painful place How I weep! For I know how much it hurts, My child To be healed….
3. Can you trust I want the best for you As I weep? That my sword has come to bring you life As I heal……
Final Refrain I surrender to the pain of Your love, I Surrender to Your touch. I will let you pierce my tender heart, For I know You love me so much….so much.
Psalm 139 is surely one of the greatest prayers of confidence found in the scriptures. There really is no place that we can go where God will not be with us. There is nothing that He does not know about us, and yet He loves us with a steadfast love. Such grace! Refrain No one loves me like You love me No one knows me like You know me No one sees me as You see me Jesus, I am Yours.
1.You have searched me, and You know me You know the places that I go You know my words before I speak them O, this is all too wonderful!...
2. Where can I go from Your Spirit? There’s no place too far away. Even the darkness cannot hide me, For to You the night is bright as day…
3. It was You who formed and made me You knew me in the secret place. Your eyes beheld my unformed being, You have written all my days…
4. O how great are all Your thoughts Lord, Beyond the reason of my mind. How vast the sum…I try to count them, But they are more than all the sand!.....
If we can see it, the hard times in our lives are God’s invitation into a deeper place of trust and intimacy with Jesus than we can ever know when everything is going smoothly.
1.In the darkest place I will declare that You are good! When it seems as though all light has gone You are good! Nothing to hold on to now, nowhere left to go It’s Your mercy that endures And now I sing my song to You… Refrain You are good, You are good You are good, You are good You are good, You are good And Your mercy endures ,Your mercy endures, Your mercy endures… for ever
2. Singing in the night my song of love You are good! Though all around cry ‘He is gone’ You are good! No one can take this love away That burns inside my heart It’s a love You’ve grown in the darkest times And it’s now becomes my endless song. ..
3. I have seen the fire in Your eyes of love You are good! With passion they are fixed on me You are good! The seal is set, This love within my heart cannot be quenched No waters deep, no mighty floods Could hold me back as I declare….
The cry of pain and the longing for resolution are all part of being in the darkness. How sweetly He will come to us, if we establish the truth of His goodness and His mercy, and declare that truth in the midst of our circumstances.
1. How long? How long will the darkness persist? Will I ever see the light again? When will be the end to all the pain? I am caught, caught in the grip of despair Hardly able to breathe in the air But this is the truth, I declare, O…
REFRAIN O the Lord is good, O the Lord is good And His mercy endures for ever. (2x)
2. In the night I am unable to see the way Are you still walking with me Lord? Are you still the light in the darkest place? I cannot feel, cannot feel if You’re there at all I Only feel very weak and small But this is the truth I declare, O…
3. Will You come? Come and rescue me now from this place? Do not leave me here all alone Do not abandon my heart for ever. Lift me up, Lift me high above the place of despair Show me Jesus, you are still there, For this is the truth I declare, O……
In hard times many will say to us ‘where is your God now?’ Will we respond in agreement, or will we root ourselves in the truth of God’s goodness, and declare that He is good, and His mercy endures for ever?
1. All around say You are gone All around say there’s no help now Surely Your God has left you alone! But this is the truth, And I will declare…
Refrain O God, You are good, And Your mercy endures for ever O God, You are good, And Your mercy endures for ever O God, You are good, And Your mercy endures for ever, For ever and ever.
2. In the darkness night of silence and fear In the coldest place of ruin and despair Though all around may crumble and fall O this is the truth, and I will declare…..
3. Left all alone, helpless and weak I feel Your hand reaching out to me And surely now I know that You were always here O this is the truth, and I will declare…..
4. All may be gone, but I am not alone All may fail, but You’re the Faithful One Holding me now, I am safe within your arms O this is the truth, and I will declare…
There is a place of rest and joy that the Lord wants to bring us into. It is a place where nothing can shake us, because we a confident in the character of God; that He is good, and His steadfast love endures for ever. There is joy when we feel His presence, and there is joy when we do not, because we know deep in our hearts the goodness of God.
1. There is joy when I see Your face There is joy when I hear Your voice There is joy when I meet You here There is joy! There is joy when I feel Your presence There is joy when know Your touch There is joy when I hear Your laughter There is joy!
REFRAIN Joy after the mourning, Joy after the tears, Joy follows the evening, A new day has dawned, A new day has dawned, A new day has dawned- There’s a resurrection here!
2. There is joy in Your mercy Lord, There is joy in Your faithfulness. There is joy in Your goodness Lord, There is joy! There is joy wrapped in the deepest darkness There is joy hidden in the grief There is joy when I can’t even hear Your laughter There is joy!
