I am beginning to understand that the times of difficulty and darkness in our lives can be a doorway into a place of intimacy with Jesus not found anywhere else. Will I attempt to find ‘another way' or will I step into the place where Jesus waits to meet me, in all the loving tenderness of His great heart? I pray that, with me, you may choose to draw close to Him in the dark times, and that these songs will help you on that journey. Truly, there is Joy in the Night!"

The cry for the presence of Jesus in our lives is a cry that continues to grow as we feel His touch, and see how beautiful He is. There is none like Him. I CRY OUT. When will I see Him? When will His presence be with us forever? These are the cries of the heart that is hungry for God. There is an urgent need in these days to “Get oil, and get it now!” MARANATHA! The Lord sees the longing in our hearts, and asks us if we really want to know the depth of His love. WILL YOU SURRENDER? The knowledge of God’s love for me is staggering. It is beyond my comprehension, and yet, as I touch it just a little, I am persuaded that His love surpasses all other loves. NO ONE LOVES ME LIKE YOU LOVE ME. God’s goodness is not dependant on my circumstances, and when I find myself in the darkness, this is really an invitation to go deep into His heart, if I can only see it. IN THE DARKEST PLACE. The darkness seems endless. It feels as though there is no way out. Can I still declare His goodness in this place? HOW LONG? Those around us may accuse God of forsaking us. Can I still see that this is the most wonderful invitation to know His goodness and His faithfulness? ALL AROUND SAY YOU ARE GONE. The promise of joy becomes a reality, when we realize that even in the darkest times, when we cannot seem to find Jesus, joy will come to us, as sure as the morning follows the night. THERE IS JOY

When God comes to us with a sharp sword of healing in His hand, it can often seem as though he intends to hurt us, because the pain is so intense. He wants us to know that His intention towards us is our wholeness, and that He is making us a ready partner for Jesus. Our places of pain and difficulty can become the most precious invitation into intimacy with Jesus.

Psalm 139 is surely one of the greatest prayers of confidence found in the scriptures. There really is no place that we can go where God will not be with us. There is nothing that He does not know about us, and yet He loves us with a steadfast love.

If we can see it, the hard times in our lives are God’s invitation into a deeper place of trust and intimacy with Jesus than we can ever know when everything is going smoothly.

The cry of pain and the longing for resolution are all part of being in the darkness. How sweetly He will come to us, if we establish the truth of His goodness and His mercy, and declare that truth in the midst of our circumstances.

There is a place of rest and joy that the Lord wants to bring us into. It is a place where nothing can shake us, because we a confident in the character of God; that He is good, and His steadfast love endures for ever. There is joy when we feel His presence, and there is joy when we do not, because we know deep in our hearts the goodness of God.
